YMCA Youth Interns: This announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service's intention to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source justified master cooperative agreement. Specifically, Groundwork will: 1. Recruit locally, train and provide a corps consisting of 4 young adults (16-25) and an additional 4 youth from the YMCA youth development programs to provide support and assistance for the various projects outlined in the description above. 2. Continue long-standing efforts of the NPS to provide opportunities for public service, youth employment, minority youth development and training, and participation of young adults in accomplishing conservation related work. 3. Recruit, select, train and manage experienced Crew Leaders who will train and supervise the team of youth through the completion of the project. Leaders will plan training opportunities and a camping trip designed to build community, understanding and environmental stewardship with participants. 4. Provide opportunities for the youth to camp, hike and recreate on public lands. 5. Provide transportation to and from individual work sites throughout Gateway NRA as well as meals as needed/appropriate during the tour of duty. 6. Provide for service clothing for each member as needed/appropriate. 7. Provide for supplies and equipment including but not limited to personal protective equipment (gloves, safety vests, eye protection, hearing protection), trash bags, loppers, handsaws, brooms, rakes and litter grabbers.
