Advance Management of Museum Collections: Project Goals: Archaeology Southwest and the Western Archeological and Conservation Center (WACC) curation staff will collaborate to provide a collection-focused educational work experience opportunity for archeology, anthropology, and museum studies students. The purpose is to complement classroom instruction with hands-on work activities in a variety of areas that describe, preserve, and make cultural artifacts and natural resource specimens more available. The skills gained through this project will enhance student employability in several diverse fields. B. Project Objectives: The objectives for this project include: 1. Conduct research on archeology and history collections to assemble information on the origin, ownership, and composition of the collections. 2. Catalog objects and update existing catalog records to describe the items and facilitate their retrieval for research. 3. Consolidate and improve the storage of archeological and museum collections to promote preservation and efficient use of repository space.
