This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service (NPS), intention to fund the following project activities. ABSTRACT Funding Announcement: P11AT30894-R9836110044 Project Title: Asses threats to Denali National Park & Preserves class I air shed through comprehensive analysis of long term data. Recipient: University of Alaska Fairbanks Principle Investigator: Dr. Catherine F.Cahill Total Anticipated Award Amount: $81,587. Cost Share: N/A New Award Or Continuation: New Anticipated Length of Agreement: 5 Years Anticipated Period of Performance: August 01, 2011 July 30, 2016 Award Instrument: Cooperative Agreement Statutory Authority: 16 U.S.C. 1(g): The National Park Service may in fiscal year 1997 and thereafter enter into cooperative agreements that involve the transfer of National Park Service appropriated funds to State, local and tribal governments, other public entities, educational institutions, and private nonprofit organizations for the public purpose of carrying out National Park Service programs pursuant to section 6305 of title 31 to carry out public purposes of National Park Service programs. CFDA#: 15.945 Substantial Involvement: The analytical team will be comprised of a University of Alaska atmospheric chemist and two National Park Service employees: a statistician from the Central Alaska Vital Signs Monitoring Network, and an environmental specialist from Denali National Park & Preserve. The environmental specialist manages the Denali NP&P air quality monitoring program, and will provide overall project management to ensure that analytical strategies are relevant to NPS goals and objectives. The NPS statistician will design and conduct all statistical analyses, with programmatic guidance from the other two team members. The UAF atmospheric chemist is the principal investigator of the project, and will interpret the results and place them into a local and regional air quality context. The team will work together through all stages of the analytical process, and will work cooperatively to produce the final report. The principal investigator will be the lead author of the final report.
