BLM-Alaska 2018 Youth Opportunities to Work on Conservation Projects on Alaska Public Lands: The BLM Anchorage Field Office (AFO) conducts numerous field season projects to conserve and maintain natural and cultural resources on public lands. While conducting mission activities, AFO staff have the capacity to teach and mentor young adults on public land management. AFO would benefit from additional members to field project crews and the unique skills sets possessed by college students and recent graduates. Additionally, educating and encouraging the next generation of land stewards has been recognized by DOI Priorities (Getting America Back to Work) as a primary mission of the BLM. To further this mission, AFO seeks to establish a partnership with an organization that is successful in encouraging and placing young adults into internships that nurture career paths in all facets of public land management.
