Cooperative Agreement with the Ministry of Public Health in the Kingdom of Thailand (MOPH): The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to address the following public health practice goals:1. To conduct on a national level, public health surveillance and epidemiological assessments on issues affecting disease, premature death, and quality of life; develop high quality laboratory systems and diagnostic capacity; and implement evidence-based public health programs on the following: infectious diseases with an emphasis on HIV/AIDS (not limited to blood safety, injection safety, infection control, and medical waste management), malaria, emerging and re-emerging infectious, neglected tropical diseases, tuberculosis, influenza and other diseases with pandemic potential as well as environmental health issues, chronic diseases, maternal and child health, reproductive health, public health preparedness, bio-safety, and injury control and prevention. 2. To provide training opportunities for public health professions, including laboratory personnel, Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation staff, university and graduate level select students and other program implementers in health assessment and epidemiology, evidence-based program planning, program implementation, program evaluation, data collection and analysis as well as personnel, financial and administrative management.3. To strengthen the Ministry of Public Health capability to plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based public health programs, conduct public health surveillance, carry-out epidemiological analysis that support national and regional disease prevention and control efforts. 4. To incorporate the results of program evaluations into operational disease prevention and control programs, insure the sharing of expertise and lessons learned nationally, regionally and internationally, and use the results to develop science-based health policies and guidelines.
