Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Californian CESU: The Coastal and Marine Geology Program (CMG) and the Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center (PCMSC) of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in Santa Cruz, CA, is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner that have the ability to conduct research in topics that meet the goals of the Coastal and Marine Geology Program. PCMSC primarily conducts research along the continental shelves, nearshore, beach, estuaries, rivers and lakes of the western United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, and the Trust Territories. Current research interests of PCMSC include (but are not limited to) sediment transport, seafloor mapping and benthic habitat analyses, coral reef studies, hazards (earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis, coastal erosion), ocean currents and pollution, coastal watersheds, oil and gas seepages, gas hydrates, marine minerals, and estuarine evolution.
