Cooperative Training Workshop for Landscape and Exterior Maintenance of Pratt Cabin,: The purpose of this project is to work cooperatively to maintain the historic landscape and exterior of Pratt Cabin, a National Register listed property within Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Two, one-week workshops are proposed on-site at Pratt Cabin for the purpose of training interns in preservation techniques to maintain the historic landscape and exterior of the building. Work may include vegetation management, landscape maintenance and other exterior maintenance or repair work. All work will follow the guidelines of the Secretary of the Interior⿿s Standards for Historic Preservation and specific directives provided by the park. Proposed dates for workshops: Workshop 1: April 21 ⿿ April 28, 2018; Workshop 2: October 20 ⿿ October 27, 2018. Two teams of two each will work on the ⿿hands-on⿝ learning exercises under the supervision of a Preservation Specialist and Project Manager. At the appropriate time the teams will swap tasks so each trainee will have the opportunity to learn preservation techniques and practice. The project serves a public purpose by providing interns an opportunity for hands-on learning and experience with preservation of an historic structure on the National Register of Historic places.
