Cultural Landscape Inventory for the Navajo Settlement Landscape: The Park has multiple strategic goals in proposing this project for documentation of the Navajo Settlement Landscape: plan appropriate resource protection measures in light of planned improvements, enhance visitor experiences and public interpretation of the history of human activities post-European contact, and critically, to reflect the landscape knowledge and use by post-Contact Navajo, a traditionally associated people. This Cultural Landscape Inventory (CLI) will provide the Park with documentation, analysis, and evaluation of the character-defining features significant to this cultural landscape, its history, and evolution to the present day. This project is needed to provide the park with critical cultural landscape resource information and evaluation that can be used to fulfill NHPA Section 110 requirements, as well as recommend NHPA Section 106 determinations of effect for future projects.
