DOD Breast Cancer Impact Award: The BCRP Impact Award mechanism was first offered in FY07. Since that time, 86 Impact Awards proposals have been received and none have been recommended for funding. The Impact Award supports unique projects or ideas (from small- to large-scale) that possess strong potential to have an unprecedented impact in breast cancer. The most important aspect of this mechanism is the potential of the proposed work to have an extraordinarily high impact and contribute significantly to the goal of eradicating breast cancer. The potential impact may be scientific or clinical and may be near-term or long-term. The proposed work may be from any discipline or combination of disciplines and must be based on a solid overall research strategy. The BCRP seeks proposals from all areas of basic, translational, clinical, behavioral, and epidemiological research. The Impact Award mechanism particularly encourages proposals from underdeveloped and/or underexplored topic areas. Proposals are expected to present ideas that are above and beyond those that fit current award mechanisms offered by the BCRP.
