Democracy Commission Spring Round: ThePublic Affairs Section administers the Democracy Commission Small GrantsProgram. This program supports thedevelopment of Kyrgyzstan's democratic institutions and civil society bycompetitively awarding small grants to Kyrgyzstani nonprofit, nongovernmentalorganizations (NGOs) and associations, to nonprofit civil society organizations(CSOs), and to independent local media organizations. State bodies are encouraged to work with NGOsto submit applications. American orother donor country organizations or individuals are not eligible for grantsunder this program. Current DemocracyCommission grant recipients may not apply for funding; open grants must beclosed before new applications can be considered. The maximum grant award is $50,000, thoughthe average grant award is less than $25,000.
