- Additional Information on Eligibility
- C. Scott Hall is Senior Manager for National Fish and Wildlife Foundation's Seabird Conservation Program. NFWF's Seabird Initiative works to enhance the viability of seabird populations by increasing their survival and reproduction to levels that will allow for long-term sustainability. With participation by the Service, NFWF with the Packard Foundation has secured all the necessary funding to investigate a critical issue to the Service: marine grade lasers are being made available to fishermen as a seabird deterrent device. The impacts to seabirds, specifically to their vision, is unknown with the use of this technology. Because this technology is being proposed within the range of endangered short-tailed albatross, the Anchorage Field Office has significant interests in the completion of the study proposed by Esteban Fernandez-Juricic, Department of Biological Sciences, Purdue University. Dr. Fernandez-Juricic's expertise is in avian visual ecology, and has provided funding partners with a scope of work to address our goals and objectives.
