Exploratory/Developmental Grants Program for Basic Cancer Research in Cancer Health Disparities (R21): Through this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), the Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD) and the Division of Cancer Biology (DCB), at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), invite grant applications from investigators interested in conducting basic research studies into the biological causes and mechanisms of cancer health disparities. These awards will support pilot and feasibility studies, development and testing of new methodologies, secondary data analyses, and innovative mechanistic studies that investigate biological/genetic bases of cancer health disparities. This FOA is also designed to aid and facilitate the growth of a nationwide cohort of scientists with a high level of basic research expertise in cancer health disparities research and to provide resources for those investigators that may need additional support on their path to successfully compete for R01 funding in basic mechanistic research in understanding cancer health disparities.
