Historic Context Development for Southeast Utah Group: Project Goals â¿¿ The NPS at the Southeast Utah Group (SEUG) has identified the need to identify and evaluate the historical significance of existing transportation infrastructure for roads and trails at four units of the national park system (Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Hovenweep National Monument, and Natural Bridges National Monument) in advance of planned infrastructure maintenance and ongoing management. The recipient will work collaboratively with the NPS to prepare documentation in sufficient detail to development a narrative historic context for the specified property types. B. Project Objectives â¿¿ The end result of the project will support DOI priorities for the streamlining of environmental review processes in order to efficiently prioritize infrastructure needs and conduct necessary deferred and cyclic maintenance. The proposed project also fulfills the objectives of the Desert Southwest CESU by providing opportunities for the recipient to engage in and collaboratively conduct research with the NPS and offer technical assistance in support of DOI prioriti
