Involving the Public in Park Stewardship: Research Support, Internships, and Public Education: Collaborating with the NPS and other organizations, the SMMF has established programs to stimulate and facilitate scientific research in support of natural and cultural resources conservation, support (unpaid) internships in all aspects of park operations to increase the knowledge and experience of students and other individuals wishing to pursue conservation and other park mission-related careers, and through interpretive programs and public events increase public understanding and involvement in conservation of the SMMNRA and the broader NPS mission goals. The purpose of this Task Agreement is to continue SMMF collaboration with NPS on these mission critical programs.
