National Technical Assistance Center Cooperative Agreement: FY 2005 will be the fourth year of the President's Initiative to Expand the Health Centers. The goals will be met through a coordinated approach of 1) strengthening existing health centers; 2) suppporting the growth of new health centers; and 3) managing quality improvement in all health centers. These essential areas of the Initiative are being supported through training and technical assistance (TA) for States, communities, and organizations. The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to develop (i) TA materials and activities that benefit BPHC-supported programs in increasing access to care and reducing health disparities as part of the President's Initiative and (ii) strengthen the relationships between BPHC- supported programspractices and Statelocal health departments, State Medicaid agencies, State Governors and legislators. National technical and non-financial assistance is required to increase the skill levels of staff of Bureau-supported programs around program expectations and requirements as well as national trends in health care. National technical and other non- financial assistance also addresses the need for materials and technical publications for use at State, regional and provider levels. Such assistance is especially critical for assisting BPHC programs and practices in identifying and fulfilling emerging roles and responsibilities in their efforts to support the President's Initiative.
