Notice of Intent to Award - Contaminants of Emerging Concern in Concentrate Stream Pilot Study: In August 2016, Reclamation and Recipient entered into cooperative agreement R16AC00140 (Agreement), to investigate contaminants of emerging concern (CEC) and their effect in reverse osmosis (RO) concentrate streams as direct and indirect potable reuse are utilized more and more in the western US and other US and world communities. Under this Agreement, Recipient will identify and classify the major representative CECs in water reclamation projects, identify the proper analytical methods, perform field / laboratory studies and data collection for monitoring CECs in various water reclamation in the US specially in the western states, and perform a pilot study for monitoring and date collection for CEC removal on an innovative hybrid treatment chain that consists of primary wastewater treatment, MF, and RO. Recipient will analyze the results and data from collected from the study, prepare a technical report, and publicize the results. Although the scope of work for the Agreement includes all four phases of the Project, the current approved budget and total estimated amount of the Agreement only include the costs for Phase 1, the literature studies and library work to identify and classify the CECs, and Phase II, the field/laboratory studies and data collection for monitoring CECs. The purpose of this modification is to adjust the approved budget to incorporate the costs of Phase III and Phase IV and increase the total estimated amount of the Agreement accordingly.
