Notice of Intent to Award to Northern Arizona University: The Center for American Indian Economic Development (CAIED) at Northern Arizona University (NAU) has an extensive history of working with northeastern Arizona tribes, counties and local communities. The CAIED specialized staff has worked directly with stakeholders impacted by the Navajo Generating Station (NGS) operations for the past 5 years. The CAIED has participated in numerous tribal, county, and local forums engaged in economic impact analysis and strategic planning as part of a continuous effort to address potential impacts from NGS. In addition, NAU has participated in the formulation of the 2013 NGS Technical Working Group Agreement in coordination with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The ongoing activities and specific understanding of the economic issues surrounding NGS, Navajo and Hopi Economic Development Strategic Planning and local/regional government is a unique and highly developed resource to complete this Economic Study.
