Opportunity PAR-07-420: Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) solicits Research Project Grant (R01) applications from qualified researchers to investigate the biology of the lymphatic system and potential new therapeutic implications. The purpose of this program announcement is to stimulate research on the biology of the lymphatic system at all biologic levels: molecular, cellular, tissue, organ, and whole body levels. Further, it includes research on innovations for identifying and intervening in lymphatic diseases across all age groups and disease states. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) award mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications. Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary.
