Opportunity PAS-06-466: -This FOA will use the Exploratory/Developmental (R21) grant mechanism to support research into underlying biologic mechanisms involving nuclear receptors, their co-regulators and intracellular signaling systems in the process of aging and the connections of the aging process with pathophysiology in middle- and old-age. This FOA runs in parallel with a FOA of identical scientific scope, PAS-06-467, that solicits applications under the R01 mechanism. -The total amount to be awarded under this FOA is contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications which fall within the funding line of the National Institute on Aging, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, the National Cancer Institute, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences -Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the number, quality, duration, and costs of the applications received.
