Paddle Bike Share - MISS: This announcement is to provide public notice of the NPS's intention to award financial assistance for the following project activities without competition. The goals of the project are to provide the public with an opportunity to experience the Mississippi River through boating on a non-motorized vehicle and to make under-served communities aware of the boating opportunity. The objectives are to facilitate the repositioning of the boats for the different routes; provide customer service to an expected 2500 users; provide outreach to under-served communities; and coordinate with new communities that want to establish routes. These stations provide accessible paddle opportunities between Mississippi National River and Recreation Area (MISS) destinations including existing NPS Midwest parks, water access, bike/pedestrian trails, bike share stations, and nearby transit. In 2016, the Mississippi Park Connection partnered with NPS to pilot a self-serve biking and paddling program along the Mississippi River in Minnesota. In partnership with communities surrounding the river, NPS and the Mississippi Park Connection will provide operational support such as customer service and boat positioning. This is to continue with Mississippi Park Connection to coordinate the Paddle Share program with multiple cities and expands the original program. Mississippi Park Connection is part of the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area committed to preserving, protecting and enjoying the Mississippi River, the national park that runs through the Twin Cities.
