Recovery Act Limited Competition: Framework Programs for Global Health Signature Innovations Initiative (R24): Purpose. This NIH Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), supported by funds provided to the NIH under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act or ARRA), Public Law 111-5, invites applications from U.S. institutions and their partners to enhance the infrastructure and opportunities at the participating institutions for training postdoctoral investigators to carry out innovative, multidisciplinary research in Global Health. The initiative emphasizes hands on, problem solving, and collaborative approaches and may require the development of new training models and new partnerships within and beyond the university community. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Resource-Related Research Project (R24) award mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The Fogarty International Center intends to commit up to $2.7 million under this FOA. We anticipate that 6-10 awards will be made for fiscal year 2010, pending the number and quality of applications and availability of funds.
