Strengthening Civil Society System (Sawt) Activity: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking funding applications from qualified entities to implement the Strengthening Civil Society System (Sawt) Activity. The USAID/Jordan Sawt “Voice” activity aims to position Jordanian civil society to effectively represent and advocate on behalf of citizen-driven interests, while leveraging the use of digital media to enhance civic knowledge and discourse. A more active and effective civil society and better informed public will assist the Government of Jordan (GOJ) in producing policies that respond to citizen's needs, while also promoting increased trust between government institutions and those whom they govern.The purpose of the Sawt activity is to discover new ways of developing sustainable civic engagement through civil society and digital media. Successful implementation will leverage new paradigms for civic engagement, greater citizen participation, and more capable networks of organizations that constructivelyengage in advocacy, while representing the interests of citizens. Sawt also aims to enhance citizen knowledge by developing the quality and professionalism of digital media communications within private and public media outlets, while helping consumers discern between misinformation/disinformation and quality reporting.Sawt has the following objectives:Objective 1: Online media provides ethical and verifiable information that citizens can rely on for constructive contribution to civic discourse.Objective 2: Citizens and civil society organizations effectively participate in civic spaces and advocate for policies through collective actionObjective 3: CSOs demonstrate measurable improvements related to their networks, organizational development, and advocacyObjective 4: CSOs and media content creators more effectively serve marginalized communitiesSee the attached Notice of Funding Opportunity for complete details.
