Volunteer Vacations: NPS and AHS have cooperated on many initiatives and activities to promote trails in general and to foster the National Trails System specifically. For FY 2012, the scope of this mutual work relates to Volunteer Vacations. Deliverables will include continued coordination and fulfillment of requests for volunteer crews and leaders for NPS and affiliated host organization projects, including the goal of maintaining project levels at 12 to 20 Volunteer Vacations annually when possible, and increased outreach and promotion to NPS units and NPS-administered trails, and national and regional NPS partners (NPCA, NRPA, etc.) about the availability, effectiveness and efficiencies of coordinating Volunteer Vacation projects through AHS.
