AASHTO Center for Environmental Excellence: The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) intends to award a cost sharing Cooperative Agreement to the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) to support the AASHTO Center for Environmental Excellence, which serves as a clearinghouse and referral center disseminating technical assistance, training, and innovative practices and technology resources to the states and other transportation practitioners. AASHTO is a non-profit, non-partisan association representing highway transportation departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Its partnerships, extensive nationwide networks among State DOTs, their ability to coordinate technical information and policies to its national membership, other transportation practitioners, and the public domain, make it uniquely qualified for this project. The AASHTO leadership and members established the Center for Environmental Excellence as part of their continuing effort to share information and identify innovative measures to assist state transportation agencies improve public trust, credibility, environmental performance and program delivery.
