Administrative History of Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site: This announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service's intention to award a task agreement under a previously single source justified master cooperative agreement. Specifically, 1. The OAH agrees to: a) Produce an Administrative History of Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site that will document how the park was conceived and established; how it has evolved; and how it has been managed. b) Engage an appropriate scholar to undertake the work, and will act as the liaison between the said scholar and the NPS; c) Work with NPS to develop a detailed scope of work, based on Article I of this task agreement, for the scholar to follow in order to complete the Administrative History; d) Conduct up to approximately 20 hours of interviews with individuals involved with the creation of the park, with current and former staff, and with members of descendant communities (when appropriate) in order to develop a full narrative. For each interview, the researcher will submit an audio file, signed release forms, and a transcript of the interview. e) Ensure that the manuscript is prepared as a scholarly report meeting the standards of the historical profession and the NPS through project management, including coordination of agency and peer review comments and provision of editorial services; f) Produce the final publication-quality manuscript in pdf format for purposes of internet access, plus twenty-five (25) bound copies for libraries, park partners, and the park. g) In addition to the complete study, the principal investigator will develop a transfer of knowledge component that highlights the research conducted as part of this study. This component may include, but not be limited to: brief web content, presentation for park interpretive and resource management staff, or brief hand-out for visitors of the park. The purpose of this transfer of knowledge component will be to enhance the NPS's ability to disseminate the information conducted through research in this project to general park visitors. h) Disseminate the report to OAH and partner membership, representing the vast majority of professional historians working in the field of American History today, as well as the public more broadly by placing the PDF version of the report on the nps.gov/MAWA website. OAH will promote the report within its professional networks and provide copies to Richmond based University libraries such as Virginia Union University and Virginia Commonwealth University in order to make the report as widely available as possible to scholars of American History, so that those scholars and teachers may use the report's findings in their teaching and writing, to the benefit of not only the scholarly community but students at many levels. i) Promote, to its membership and through its professional networks, any use by NPS of the report in its management and planning, so as to draw attention to its continued efforts to make the presentation and practice of American History within NPS as informed, current, and professional as possible, which is a core mission of the OAH.
