A one-time funding of $40,000 to repair a fish exclusion structure in Bear Wallow Creek, East Central Arizona. Apache Trout, one of two trout species native to Arizona is Federally listed as threatened. Apache trout is a sought after and popular sportfish in Arizona and management has included providing angling opportunity in select streams in historic habitat. A principal threat is predation and hybridization by nonnative trout. Successful management of this threat has been through isolation of trout populations via fish exclusion structures (aka fish barriers) placed in the streams to preclude upstream movement of fish.
