Building Genetics and Genomic Knowledge about Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Diseases and Disorders (R01): The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA)is to encourage research into dental, oral, and craniofacial diseases and disorders for which there is evidence for genetic heritability but for which we do not have a strong understanding of the genetics/genomics of the disease or disorder. Applicable areas of investigation include identification of promising areas of the genome, and characterization and elucidation of the function(s) of genetic variants that affect disease risk in humans. The ultimate goal of these studies will be to drive development of effective diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive approaches.
