Development of Middle Klamath Coho Refuge Habitat Enhancement Plan: Funds under this award are to be used to help the Karuk Tribe to develop a plan for enhancing Coho salmon habitat in the middle Klamath Basin. The goal of the planning effort is to assess up to 15 tributary sites in the mid-Klamath Basin where each site could yield multiple enhancement projects. The planning effort would also scope out possibilities for restoration work at each tributary. The habitat enhancement plan would be guided by the best available science such as the Klamath River Coho Ecology Study. The study developed by the Karuk Tribe and others acknowledges the diversity of habitat utilization demonstrated by local Coho population and the complex nature of the Klamath Riverâ¿¿s ecology. This award is made under the authority of: Fish and Wildlife Act of 1956, as amended, 16 U.S.C. 742a-742j.
