Investigation of the Associations Between Air Pollution and Health Using Alternative Estimates of Human Exposure: It is anticipated that the agreements that are awarded will involve or relate to geospatial information. The U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking applications that propose development and evaluation of alternative human exposure indicators/estimates of PM (particulate matter), gaseous criteria pollutants (e.g. nitrogen dioxide, ozone), or air toxics (e.g., benzene, formaldehyde and other motor vehicle related volatile organic compounds) in the examination of the associations between outdoor air pollution and human health effects. The ultimate objective of this research is to demonstrate the utility of improving the exposure assignments made in the commonly performed epidemiologic studies of effects of ambient air pollution on human health.
