Operation of Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad: This is a Notice of Intent to Award federal financial assistance to Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) for continuation as a key operating partner of Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP). The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway is the park's Alternative Transportation System and is an important element of the park's Interpretive and Education program. CVSR is uniquely qualified to assist the park with its Interpretation and Education goals as well as its Alternative Transportation objectives for a variety of reasons: CVSR is a local non-profit organization based in the Cuyahoga Valley and has strong ties and long-standing, trusted relationships with the surrounding communities in the park; CVSR owns all of the rolling stock used to provide rail service in the park; CVSR has an existing volunteer base of 2,000+ people who assist the organization; CVSR supports via non federal funding approximately 45% of the operating budget.
