Preliminary Design and Techno-Economic Analysis of MWe-Class Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Systems: The mission of the DOE FE Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) program is to enable the efficient generation of low-cost electricity for (a) 2nd Generation natural gas-fueled SOFC DG systems and modular, coal-fueled systems and (b) Transformational coal or natural gas-fueled utility-scale systems with carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). The program supports the overarching goals of the Clean Coal and Carbon Management Research Program (CCCMRP) through the collaboration between the R&D that addresses the technical and economic barriers to commercial viability and the development and deployment of SOFC power systems that validate those solutions.
