Supporting the National Blood Transfusion Service in the Implementation and Expansion of Blood Safety Activities in Ethiopia under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief: This is a supplemental funding opportunity. Eligible Applicants: National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS)- Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH)

The FMOH is the responsible body for the NBTS in Ethiopia, with regulatory, coordination, and oversight roles. Since 2010 the FMOH/NBTS has had full responsibility for blood transfusion service delivery in the country, following a period of collaboration with the Ethiopian Red Cross Society. In January 2015 a Federal Proclamation established the NBTS as a semi-autonomous agency, accountable to the FMOH.
