THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS- Nicodemus National Historic Site Interpretive Assistance- THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS: OVERVIEW: To encourage community participation in the planning, development, interpretive programming, and special projects at Nicodemus National Historic Site. This will improve the site’s interpretive programming and media, provide research opportunities with primary and secondary reseach materials to the National Park Service, and obtain expertise of the communities historical society.
STATEMENT OF JOINT OBJECTIVES/PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN: Improve outreach of history of Nicodemus through joint research and involvement in developing Nicodemus related interpretation to engage visitors both at Nicodemus Historic Site as well as through social media. Strengthen NPS capabilities and efforts to obtain historical resources that will enhance the site’s operations.
RECIPIENT INVOLVEMENT: Assist with interpretive planning and monthly programming at Nicodemus National Historic Site. Participate with planning and provide consultation on interpretive projects. Assist the park in its research needs. Provide images and content for special projects including waysides, film projects, mobile ranger station exhibits, and plans for the AME church’s interpretive media.
NATIONAL PARK SERVICE INVOLVEMENT: Collaboratively plan for annual programming content. Provide technical expertise and resources to complete media projects, and ensure all projects are completed to NPS standards. Prepare all necessary planning documents and reports. Provide training and assistance by applying standards.
NPS did not solicit full and open competition for this award based the following criteria: The Nicodemus Historical Society is uniquely qualified to provide resources and input into the site’s interpretive projects. It is the only local organization directly associated with the community of Nicodemus that has the capacity to generate community input and gather local resources through its extensive collections. The Nicodemus is the only known entity with the technical expertise to successfully perform the tasks identified.
