Tipping Point: Addressing the Expanded Demand for Living Shorelines in North Carolina: The USFWS intends to fund this project via Modification No. 1 to Grant Agreement No. F17AP00869 with the North Carolina Coastal Federation (Recipient). The Recipient will work with community and student volunteers to restore 850 linear feet and 4 acres of oyster reef and estuarine shoreline around Bogue Sound in Carteret County. The existing shoreline suffers from severe erosion due to continual wave action. Various methods of building oyster reefs will be placed both along the shore and offshore to absorb wave energy, promote salt marsh growth and increase fish habitat for trust species. The amount of the funding of this modification will be $43,998.00. Recipient will cost share $61,600.00 toward this effort. The period of performance of Grant Agreement No. F17AP00869 will be revised to 08/01/2017 through 08/31/2020.
