BLM-New Mexico - El Camino Real Inventory, Evaluation and Research (Challenge Cost Share): Conduct cultural resource inventory of potential El Camino Real Trail segments and provide documentation which meets standards outlined in the New Mexico Bureau of Land Management (BLM) H-8100 Handbook, Procedures for Performing Cultural Resource Field work on Public Lands in the Area of New Mexico State BLM Responsibilities and established national standards for documenting National Historic Trails. The use of volunteers is encouraged in working with the El Camino Real Trail Association and other trail groups.
Conduct evaluations of known and additional El Camino Real Trail segments for potential public education and interpretation opportunities.
Conduct historical research of El Camino Real trail segments to integrate for future potential public education and interpretation opportunities.
Coordinate with the National Park Service Trail Unit in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the El Camino Real Trail Association and the El Camino Real national Trails Administrator in incorporating inventory, evaluation and research work in incorporating results into potential publications or interpretive plans.
Inventory and evaluate potential trail segments in the Las Cruces District, Socorro and Taos Field Offices including associated historic sites linked by trail segments.
