BLM UT Remote Sensing Of Milford Flat Wildfire: The Utah Bureau of Land Management's Cedar City Field Office has acquired one time funding to continue an ongoing effort to monitor the effects of wildfire on a landscape level while providing for a means to evaluate Emergency Stabilization and Rehabilitation efforts. Remote sensing data has been collected within the Milford Flat Wildfire since 2008. Remote sensing will be utilized to examine pre and post fire vegetation and phenological patterns. The primary objective of the project will be to continue to assess whether the BLMs rehabilitation efforts mechanical and seed treatments have been successful. One time funding was requested because observations made during the first 3 years post fire can be premature considering that precipitation and temperature variations and these variations effect on seedling establishment and plant growth. The project will have continue on existing goals including: Augmenting existing data resources and map products. Examining post fire disturbance patterns within Ecological Sites for developing State and Transition Models, and Increasing the use of remotely sensed data by the BLM for monitoring large landscapes at both the state and local levels.
