Great Plains Fire Science Exchange: This Funding Announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service (NPS), intention to fund the following project activities without competition.This Task Agreement (Agreement) is being entered into by and between the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service (NPS), and Missouri State University (MSU). The purpose of this agreement is to support the development of a new fire knowledge exchange consortium for the Great Plains. The Joint Fire Science Program (JFSP) intends to strengthen the links between fire science and land managers through development of regional consortia. These regional groups will provide a framework for professionals and landowners in the field to share information and experience to the benefit of all participants. The Great Plains Fire Science Exchange (GPFE) is a partnership between the National Park Service, the Joint Fire Science Program (JFSP), Missouri State University, and Kansas State University. The project was selected for funding after a competitive call for proposals from the National Interagency Fire Council (NIFC) in 2010. NIFC provided funding for two years beginning June 2012. The exchanges are eligible for biennial renewal pending satisfactory performance.
