Headlands restoration: The objective of this Task Agreement is to collaborate on habitat restoration activities associated with Project Headlands. Project Headlands involved a large suite of road and trail construction projects in the Marin Headlands of Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) that were funded through the Federal Lands Highway Program. The majority of significant road construction work was completed by 2014 and the Park is currently working on revegetation and habitat restoration associated with the project. The major activities associated with this task agreement include the collection of native plant propagules, native plant propagation and planting, invasive plant management, intern support and project planning and management support. The Golden Gate National Park Conservancy (GGNPC) is uniquely qualified to collaborate with the GGNRA on habitat restoration activities. The GGNPC has been running the native plant nursery program for the GGNRA since 1997. They have expertise in native plant propagation and experience with GGNRA requirements for seed collection. Additionally, GGNPC staff have extensive experience working with the GGNRA on planting native plants and managing invasive plants. They are familiar with GGNRA approaches, policies and procedures including restoration plan development, IPM approaches, post-restoration monitoring, reporting, etc. By partnering with the Parks Conservancy, GGNRA is provided with unique resources, including support from staff with knowledge of and experience with biological monitoring, native plant propagation, invasive plant control, community engagement and preparing natural resource data for public educational use. Additional, the GGNPC provides the infrastructure associated with the six native plant nurseries they currently manage. This knowledge base, commitment and synergy with ongoing operations will allow this project to be completed efficiently and successfully.
