Kauai County Agricultural Development Program: NRCS is requesting proposals for the Kauai County Agricultural Development Program. This program is to support community-based and community-driven projects that promote agricultural development. The $400,000.00 Agricultural Development grant will increase and sustain soil and water conservation needs and enrich the capabilities of local farmers, ranchers and land owners. Successful applicants from the private sector will be able to receive federal funding under this program, which the successful grantee will administer, for costs associated with projects that relate to the following: a. Development of processing, marketing and distribution operations so as to stimulate sustainable production farming. b. Expanding or developing of marketable agricultural products and services to create community benefits. c. Development of agricultural value added products and services to include, but not be limited to commodity crops, livestock, poultry, orchards, aquaculture, floriculture, etc. d. Establishment of the entrepreneural infrastructure which provides training tools, correlated business plans and techniques for sustaining agricultural initiatives and market analysis. e. Any other agricultural related enterprise or program that will have a positive impact upon island agricultural development. f. The installation of components of applied practices which are ineligible for Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) cost share funds. g. Accelerating technical assistance in developing soil and water conservation plans for the protection of our natural resources.
