Lower Moenkopi Village Water Storage Tank Evaluation and Refurbishment Project: The Tribes Water Resources Program has extensively evaluated water supply conditions for the Villages of Moenkopi in Coconino County, Arizona. These investigations have determined that water supplies are in decline and are vulnerable to several documented sources of contamination. Of particular concern are the diminishing yields from the existing N-Aquifer well field and its proximity to an abandoned landfill containing uranium waste. With these concerns it is paramount to keep existing water sources and storage systems in operational condition to maintain the public welfare to allow for the safe delivery of potable water to the Villages. This Project allows the Hopi Tribe to evaluate and repair the Lower Moenkopi Spring Source Water Storage Tank to help protect this important water source.
