Media Literacy Program: The U.S. Embassy in Tirana, Albania announces an open call for non-governmental organizations to submit applications for a Media Literacy program working with Albanian universities with a teacher education program component. The Media Literacy education programs are designed and implemented with the goal to improve the level of media literacy among Albanian citizens, particularly among Albanian students seeking to target disinformation as it comes to Albania from foreign actors. During the past three years, the Embassy has supported projects aimed at transforming media consumption into an active and critical process for university students and Albanian citizens to gain greater awareness of the potential for misinformation, misrepresentation, and manipulation in media. Please follow all instructions below: Priority Region: Albania Program Objectives: The proposals should focus on: - Teaching media literary as an idea and concept in university and societal levels. - Create opportunities to integrate media literacy in pre-university and university levels, through pre-service teacher’s preparation, which are the bridge between both educational levels. - Increase the capacities of pedagogical staff at universities to promote and teach media literacy in university levels, through programs such as Train the Trainers. - Improve analytical and creative skills of Albanian students in analyzing and creating media content through training, competitions, and media literacy events. - Strengthen the resilience of youth towards disinformation, fake news, conspiracy theories, and propaganda through training, competitions, and other activities.

Additional Information on Eligibility
1. Eligible Applicants • Not-for-profit organizations, including civil society, non-governmental organizations, and think tanks that are able to respond to the NOFO, and have experience and expertise working on media literacy programs. • Cost sharing or matching is not required and is not part of the evaluation criteria. However, the applicants are encouraged to explore the possibility of a cost-share whenever possible. 2. Other Eligibility Requirements • In order to be eligible to receive an award, all organizations must have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) number issued via www.SAM.gov, as well as a valid registration on www.SAM.gov. Please see Section D.3 for more information. Note: Individuals are not required to have a UEI or be registered in SAM.gov. • Applicants are only allowed to submit one proposal per organization. If more than one proposal is submitted from an organization, all proposals from that institution will be considered ineligible for funding.
