National Forum for State and Territorial Chief Executives: The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announces the availability of FY 2005 funds for a grant program for a national member organization representing the chief executives of US States and Territories to establish a national forum to convene the high-ranking decision makers representing the many federal, State, provider, and private sector interests around an issue of importance to HRSA and to national governors and their senior health policy advisors. Such a forum will facilitate communication on current and emerging strategies addressing common priorities, public policy and governance issues affecting States, and will enable HRSA to better leverage limited resources by improving planning and program design to complement other public and private sector initiatives serving the needs of the same populations. Through this project, the National Forum will provide assistance to HRSA and HRSA grantees, such as the States and local governm! ents, health centers, maternal and child health programs, rural health offices, hospital bioterrorism preparedness, health workforce, oral health, behavioral health and use of the current technologies to evaluate the effectiveness of its programs and initiatives to address the needs of the underserved and targeted populations. The National Forum will be used to assist governors and their key policy staff to develop and implement innovative solutions to governance and policy challenges in their States, best practices relating to health, workforce development, social services and other emerging issues.
