Northwest New Mexico Site Stewards: The San Juan County Museum Association (SJCMA) has participated in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) a site stewardship program since 2000. The Northwest New Mexico Site Stewards (NWNMSS) involves members of the community in monitoring the use and condition of scores of archaeological and historical sites managed by the Farmington Field Office. The underlying goals are not only to involve the public to regularly monitor the use and condition of significant cultural sites, but to assist the BLM in the management of those resources as well as raise the consciousness in the community of the importance of preserving cultural resources.
