River Park Access Improvements - MISS: This announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service's intention to award financial assistance for the following project activities. The City of Brooklyn Park has included within its 5-year Capital Improvement Plan the development of the river front portion of River Park with the goal to better connect the community to one of its most valuable assets, the Mississippi River. The objectives are to increase access through trail connections, non-motorized boat launch, and kayak rental facilities. This project will construct 1.01 miles of connecting trails between River Park and the Mississippi Regional Trail, create a boat launch for non-motorized boats, and set up a Paddle Share station for people to rent kayaks to experience the Mississippi River. The public purpose is to provide access to the Mississippi River and the River Park from regional trails, and will thus benefit both local residents as well as residents of the region, who will have bike, kayak, public transit, and auto access to this section of the Mississippi River.
