To Strengthen Collaboration Between CDC & the National TB Controllers Association (NTCA) TB Nurse Coalition Supplement Project: This project is to focus on activities that impact tuberculosis (TB) control in the United States by facilitating active and timely communication between CDC, DTBE and the local, state and territorial programs in the United States. This project will enhance communication--identifying new ways to incorporate technology to provide real-time interaction between state, local, and federal partners. In addition, the National Tuberculosis Association (NTCA) will continue to develop and enhance partnerships with other federal agencies and advocacy-oriented organizations, such as STOP TB USA. The work, if supported, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)/Division of Tuberculosis Elimination (DTBE) will assist with advancing efforts to ultimately eliminate TB in the United States. NTCA is a leader among TB control officials in state, big city, and territorial programs--providing the field expertise, the infrastructure, and credibility to lead efforts, working collaboratively with CDC/DTBE to accelerate the decline--and ultimately the elimination of TB in the United States.

Additional Information on Eligibility: Eligibility is limited to grant recipients under PS12-1205 only. The National TB Controllers Association is the only external organization serving as a liaison between the nation's TB Controllers Association and The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Tuberculosis Elimination (DTBE) . This organization provides a conduit for discussions relative to the nation's TB trends, issues that impact federal funding, and provide alerts when there are issues that may have a negative impact on national TB programs meeting DTBE national TB goals and objectives. This organization has been successful in working collaboratively with DTBE to interpret policies, guidelines, and recommendations to the state/big city/territorial TB programs. By expanding activities, supported by this supplement, the NTCA can transition activities without any program gaps in meeting the needs of 67 TB project areas and as a result of their expertise and guidance to programs over more than almost two decades-- making this organization uniquely qualified to perform the programmatic activities as indicated. This expansion is to increase activities--utilizing more state-of-the art technologies to enhance current activities with DTBE. In addition, development of a TB-related public health infrastructure relative to the TB drug supplies, and ongoing support for 67 partners in the field to advance TB program focused work that is in line with plans (IOM, DTBE) for the elimination of TB in the United States. No previous request was made, so there are no outcomes to reports.Without approval of this supplement, there may be a negative impact to TB control programs, specifically relative to having alerts and/or awareness with systematic plans for drug shortages that could result in a negative, adverse effect for TB care in the U.S.
