GIS Technical Support: This agreement represents an opportunity to enter into a single cooperative agreement (CA) for planning, technical and field assistance to the Fish and Wildlife Branch of Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield (HAAF) in order to facilitate successful implementation of the endangered species management program. The Fish and Wildlife Branch requires full time technical support for the endangered species management program, including computer software and hardware management, as well as assistance in gathering and documenting field data to remain in compliance with state and federal law regulating threatened and endangered species within the boundaries of the two bases. In order to provide adequate protection for wildlife officially classified as threatened or endangered pursuant to section 4 of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, the State of Georgia, the Fish and Wildlife Service and other wildlife managers must have access to accurate records about individual species populations, habitat and resources to support current and future populations. Wildlife conservation is achieved partially through legislation such as the Endangered Species Act, the establishment and protection of public lands, and responsible public practices that conserve wild animal populations.Statutory Authority: Sikes Act, 16 U.S.C. § 670c-1 – Cooperative Plan for Conservation and Rehabilitation
