Lake Cascade State Park Accessibility Improvements: The primary project objective of this project is to improve universal accessibility which will conform to federal accessibility requirements at multiple units of Lake Cascade State Park (LCSP). The project will also improve overall visitor safety be reducing hazardous facilities and reducing tripping hazards. Pelican Cove Fishing Pier and Day Use Improvements: This project includes the development of an accessible fishing pier at the Pelican Cove unit of LCSP. The pier will be in compliance with accessibility requirements and will provide a unique fishing and scenic opportunity at the park. This project also includes the development of a precast concrete vault toilet and two accessible parking spaces. The parking area will connect to the vault toilet restroom and the fishing pier via an accessible hardened surface path, either asphalt or concrete. The existing gravel parking area will be improved to provide more defined parking areas and expanded to facilitate visitor flow. Crown Point Dock System: The existing dock system at the Crown Point unit will be replaced, and access to the docks will be improved. This project will include the construction of an accessible pathway and the stabilization/replacement of the existing concrete landing platform connecting to the docks. The existing docks are currently accessed by a steep set up stairs leading down the bank. These stairs will be replaced by the ramp system along the hillside, leading to a 40'x8' concrete transition platform. These elements will be designed to meet accessibility standards. The docks will also be replaced as part of this project. In total, 180 linear feet of docks will be purchased and installed, along with new gangways and anchoring system. Blue Heron Boat Ramp/Day Use: This project will replace the handling docks, install accessible dock approaches, improve traffic flow and expand parking at the Blue Heron unit. The existing boat ramp docks will be replaced. Some dock sections currently at Blue Heron were moved from other less popular areas, and these sections will be returned to their original park unit. This project will install 240 linear feet of new dock at Blue Heron. The existing concrete abutments will be removed, and the asphalt adjacent to the boat launch will be expanded on the north and south sides of the boat ramp (1200 sf) to provide uniform access from the asphalt to the gangways, and to facilitate dock removal for the winter. Van Wyck Day Use: This project will repair the asphalt abutment connecting the gangways to the boat ramp handling docks. This asphalt is damaged and does not provide accessible transitions onto the gangways. No substantial involvement on the part of Reclamation is anticipated for the successful completion of the objectives to be funded by this award. It is anticipated that Reclamation's involvement will consist of standard federal stewardship responsibilities such as monitoring project performance, technical assistance at the request of the recipient, etc.
